Dear Parent/carer

At the start of the month you were asked to record energy meter readings to provide a ‘baseline’ measurement of your household’s energy consumption over the month.  The second reading will be taken later in December and this will allow you son/daughter to calculate your current energy consumption per day with any existing energy conservation measures you have.

As part of the Energy + Action = Change project each pupil can be issued with a   ‘smart’ energy meter on loan for to help evaluate the small changes in energy use that will contribute to a larger overall saving.  There are more details of the meter we have available at www.efergy.com/elite.

The meter will be on loan over the course of the academic year and is to be returned in June 2010.

The meter is a standard consumer product and requires no specialist wiring.  The unit takes 6 AA batteries which will be supplied.

For more information about the energy + action = change project look on the Highland Schools website   www.globaldimension.highlandschools.org.uk  To confirm you are willing to accept a meter on loan please can you complete the short questionnaire overleaf then sign and return to your P7 or Science teacher

Yours sincerely

Martyn Crawshaw    Faculty Head of Science,

I acknowledge we will have the use of a Smart meter until June and will use the unit to investigate energy saving measures at home during this period.
